Born July 7, 2008, in Pittsburgh, Karoline was a recent Peters Township High School graduate and was preparing to begin her freshman year at PennWest California, where she was set to play on the women’s soccer team.

Those who knew Karoline have remembered her for her genuine kindness, bright smile, determination and love of soccer. She had been involved with Victory Soccer Club for years and served as a longtime captain, becoming a familiar and valued presence within the Western Pennsylvania soccer community. Karoline’s death has also left the Peters Township and PennWest communities grieving a young woman whose life was just beginning to unfold. Hundreds of people gathered at a candlelight prayer vigil at Trinity United Methodist Church in Peters Township on August 23 to honor her memory and support those closest to her.

Authorities have said Karoline was fatally stabbed in her vehicle in what investigators described as a domestic situation. Her boyfriend, 18-year-old Royce Moser, has been charged with homicide in connection with her death. Moser’s mother, Rachel Moser, also faces charges related to the alleged handling of evidence and efforts to hinder the investigation. The charges are allegations, and the case remains ongoing.

Karoline’s family has described her death as a parent’s worst nightmare and has asked for privacy while they grieve. At the same time, community members have come together to honor her memory. A fundraising effort established in her name is intended to support a scholarship in Karoline’s honor as well as organizations working to prevent domestic violence and assist people affected by it.

A celebration of Karoline’s life is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Peters Township Funeral Home in McMurray, followed by a memorial service from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
