David C. Geiger Sr., 85, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and a lifetime of memories. His death was announced by Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory in Erie.
Born in Erie on November 10, 1940, David was the son of the late Carl and Ethel (Clark) Geiger. He was a proud graduate of Tech Memorial High School and later served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard, where he was stationed in Alaska.
Following his military service, David worked for Feldheims and Pastore Brothers Builders for many years. His determination and work ethic also led him to place first in both the Erie Fire Department and Erie Police Department entrance examinations. He later began a second career at St. Joseph Church, where he served as head of maintenance and remained active in the parish community. He was a member of the Parish Council and School Council and faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister. He continued working at St. Joseph until the age of 83.
David was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Geiger, and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary, as well as his children Catherine Geiger, Lynda Fromknect and her husband Glen, Christine Geiger and John Herman, Janet Weisgerber and her husband Louie, Jennifer Geiger, and David Geiger Jr. and his wife Autumn. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his sister Mary Ellen Demmick and her husband Allan, his brother Richard Geiger and his wife Sheila, along with numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends were invited to pay their respects Tuesday, June 30, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory on Sassafras Street in Erie. A prayer service followed Wednesday morning, July 1, before the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery.
David Geiger Sr.’s life was marked by military service, years of dedicated work and deep commitment to his family and church. As his loved ones mourn his passing, they will continue to cherish the memories of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend whose presence touched many lives.
