Mrs. Barbara Jean (Koonce) Johnson, 83, of LaGrange, North Carolina, has died, leaving family, friends and loved ones to mourn her passing. Barbara died peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, while in the care of Spring Arbor Senior Living in Kinston. Her death was announced through Trinity Funeral Service, which is handling arrangements.
Barbara was born on July 20, 1943, to the late Roosevelt Koonce Sr. and Millie Koonce. Her life was remembered with a message of faith and comfort as those who knew and loved her were invited to unite in prayer and reflect on her life, memories and legacy.

The service celebrating Barbara’s life and legacy will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in the Memorial Chapel of Trinity Funeral Service, located at 1276 US Highway 258 N. in Kinston, North Carolina. Viewing will take place one hour before the service.
