Chef Jason Briscoe, the popular creator behind the One Pot Family and Briscoe’s Kitchen and Spice, is recovering after suffering multiple life-threatening injuries in a serious bicycle accident in Jamaica while visiting the island to celebrate his birthday.
According to a GoFundMe campaign organized by a close friend of Briscoe’s wife, Briscoe was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a truck during the family trip. The crash left him with severe injuries requiring urgent medical treatment, surgery and rehabilitation. His family said he was stable but faced a long recovery.
The accident occurred while Briscoe was visiting Jamaica for the first time in almost a decade. The tragedy was particularly difficult for his family because the trip had been planned as a celebration of his birthday. Instead, relatives and friends were forced to focus on securing emergency medical care and arranging his return to the United States.
Briscoe was initially hospitalized in Jamaica before being safely airlifted to the United States for specialized treatment. A post shared through his social-media accounts confirmed that he had arrived safely in the U.S. and asked supporters to continue praying for him as he prepared for surgery.
His family has launched a fundraising campaign to help cover the cost of the medical evacuation, surgeries, hospital treatment, rehabilitation and other expenses associated with his recovery. The campaign describes Briscoe as a devoted husband, father of two daughters and a passionate chef who has built a large online community through his cooking and his celebration of Jamaican food and culture.
The fundraiser had surpassed $75,000 toward a $100,000 goal as of September 1, 2026, with more than 2,000 donations recorded. Supporters have continued to leave messages of encouragement while Briscoe undergoes treatment.
News of the accident has prompted an outpouring of concern among followers of the One Pot Family, many of whom know Briscoe through his cooking videos and social-media content. His family has asked supporters not only to contribute if they are able, but also to share the fundraiser and keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
At this time, reports indicate that Chef Briscoe is alive and receiving medical care. Claims that he died in the accident are not supported by the available information. His family is instead focused on his surgeries, rehabilitation and the difficult road toward recovery.
