A recreational outing ended in tragedy Sunday evening, August 30, 2026, when a fatal ATV crash in Clay County claimed the lives of 34-year-old Brock J. Roark of Delta, Alabama, and a 13-year-old passenger from Villa Rica, Georgia.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Good Hope Delta Road near Crutchfield Drive, roughly seven miles southwest of Delta. Roark was operating a 2025 Can-Am Outlander 850 ATV when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.
Roark was ejected from the ATV during the collision and suffered fatal injuries. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where he was pronounced dead.
The 13-year-old passenger was also thrown from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save the child, the passenger later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Because the passenger was a minor, authorities have not publicly released the child’s name. Details about the young victim’s family have also not been disclosed. The deaths have nevertheless sent shockwaves through both Delta and Villa Rica as relatives, friends and community members struggle to process the sudden loss of two lives.
For Roark’s family and friends, the crash has brought an especially painful end to the life of a 34-year-old man whose loved ones are now left with memories of the time they shared with him. His death has prompted mourning among those who knew him and those who had become part of his life.
